So my Friday Favorite post is almost a Saturday post! Oops! I have a good excuse though....I'm visiting my mother in law in Houston, and I've been thrifting away today searching for milk glass! It's definitely a challenge, but I have had some success! We have had a lot of interest and requests for milk glass in the new booth...and we have to admit, we are LOVING milk glass too!  I found some great inspiration pics that I've just been drooling over... Hope you enjoy!  And don't forget to check for milk glass displayed in our booth at 4 Sisters & Etc beginning February 1st!

Ikat

Ikat is a pattern created by resist dyeing the threads before weaving into a fabric.

Ikat print has been on my radar for quite sometime now.  From a design perspective, I find the technique interesting.  The most common form of ikat calls for only the warp (up and down) or weft (left to right) threads to be dyed.  This creates the "smudgey" effect of found in ikat prints.  However, both warp and weft threads can be dyed to create a double ikat print.  This form is less common and more costly.

One of my favorite college courses was about fabrics and print making.  I loved learning about fabrics from different cultures and how they came about.

I'll admit, I was a little intimidated by this print at first.  Usually it is found in bright, bold colors; but I'm seeing more and more in muted neutrals and toned down color schemes.  Traditionally, in Indian and Asian cultures reds and golds and blues are used.  The ikat pattern that you see today is a more modern take on the original print and can be found in a range of non-traditional colors.

A bold print brings new life to these traditional chairs.

I love the look of mixing different patterns with the same color scheme.

There are so many ways to bring this fun print into your home, whether it be in a pillow, furniture piece, wall paper or artwork!  I am currently searching for the perfect ikat curtains for my dining area.

Those of you who know me, know that I am a organization control freak.  My Rubbermaid containers have labels and my linens are folded in a certain way to go on a certain shelf with proportional spacing in between.  I know, crazy right?  "A place for everything and everything in its place" is what they say, but we all know that isn't always the case.  Though I strive daily to keep order and structure in my home, I still have those piles.  You know the ones I'm talking about.... the ones that don't really have a true home so they just sit.  And sit.  I've been stalking Pinterest lately to find the perfect look for what I want to eventually achieve in my own home. With each new year, I try to re-organize and get things in order in hopes that this year will be THE YEAR...
I wanted to share some of my favorite inspirations that make my over-active-organizing-mind just dance with glee.  I hope you enjoy this eye candy as much as I do!

I am loving the way these dishes look on this industrial style shelving.  I can see my crisp white plates and bowls on it now...

Using glass or plastic containers to store your baking goods gives a nice uniform look and it's easy to see what you have, and easily & quickly use.

Playroom Preview

Many of you know that we have a new little bundle on the way, which means our existing playroom will be replaced by a sweet little nursery.  Since moving into our home, I've never really decorated the current playroom.  I knew we were planning to expand our family, and I wanted to wait for the new one before deciding on anything.  With only a few months left before he arrives, I think my nesting phase is starting to kick in, and I am ready to change our whole home!

My poor husband is just thrilled with all of the project ideas that I keep throwing his way...painting the whole house, landscaping, and many other small changes. With that said, the first room we are tackling is the playroom for our boys.  I've been diligently working on some ideas and collecting items.  I can't wait to start the designing with Lacie for Maison Greige's first official room project!

The cork board will be a great place for the boys to hang all of their arts and crafts.

I love this mint ikat print.

I want to have fun with prints without making the room feel too "kiddy" because we will have to use this as a guest room also.

We just got a teepee for Christmas from my in-laws, and can I say every member of the family loves it!

You can find more of my ideas on my personal Pinterest board.

I can not wait to finish the room and share the final product with all of you.  Remember to check our Facebook page for updates on what's happening with MG, and follow us on Instagram and Pinterest!

Gold!

I am so glad to see gold accents come back in style.  And I'm not talking about your 1980's awful gold...

Today's gold accents can be paired with grays and neutrals for a more traditional look, or try it with crisp white and bright colors for a more modern style.

Mirrors, lamps, pillows, and frames are a great way to incorporate this style back into your home with out permanent commitment.  Or for a bolder (and more committed relationship with gold), try painting a fun pattern on an accent wall or gold hardware in the kitchen or bathroom.

Do you have any gold in your home?  Comment with pictures!  We would love to see how you've incorporated gold into your home!
